Dear dhamma friends,
As we leave 2010 and proceed to 2011, in welcoming another chinese Lunar year, let us develope our sprituality; the cultivation of our spiritual health will strengthen our resolve and mindfulness and enable us to live our lives well.
On Giving
There are those who give little of much they have - and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome.
And there are those who have little and give it all. These are the believers in life and the bonty of life, and their coffer is never empty.
There are those who give with joy, and the joy is their reward.
And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.
And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue.
" it is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding."
- Khalil Gibran

The Buddha potential is in us all....

The year 2011, the year of the metal rabbit will see the construction and completion of the celestial dragons. It will also herald the arrival of the Holiness, the statue of first Buddha, a gift from devotees in Thailand and also mark the appearance of a pair of celestial phoenix from China, a gift from a devotee.

The sangha community would like to see healing of the minds by exploring Buddhism as a science of mind and by understanding how the mind works which will help reduce mental suffering and create family well being. In a world seeing an increase in violence and dependence on drugs to get through daily life, learn how to manage fear and anger, join the reverand sangha in their daily prayer and meditation 10 A.M. - 11 A.M., 3 P.M. - 4 P.M. and 8 P.M.-9.30 P.M. In 2011, engage in acts of loving service to other beings and cultivation of loving-kindness (metta), act compassionately within our families and in the world around us.

If you are feeling blessed, repay the blessings bestowed unto you by forwarding this blogspot and its contents to all dhamma friends, devotees and relatives. The link between Buddha and men/women is faith, that is all that keeps things moving and alive.

May the merits generated by all the acts of charity at Wat Puthanimittam be shared equally amongst you all!

Good manners aren't like a suit you wear to impress others but take off when you get home.
Fasting helps you contemplate spirituality and remind you that material things aren't the most important thing in your life.
Each human being is totally unique from the very beginning of his/her life at fertilization.
When Children Leave Home:
  • maintain a regular spiritual routine
  • make good choices and decisions
  • effectively communicate with others
  • care for personal health
  • manage personal finance
  • clean and maintain a house/apartment
  • be self motivated

Faith is the assured expectation of things hope for. Strong faith build on solid evidence. Without faith, no one please Buddha. Anyone who comes to Buddha must believe He is real and His dhamma reward those who wish to learn about it. The wisdom of the dhamma can make us wiser.

Do not be anxious over anything, let your prayers be known to Budhha, and the light and teachings of Buddha will guide you. Don't be spiritually bankrupt that you find it difficult to turn to Buddha, the dhamma and the sangha for help. The dhamma will keep our emotional, mental and spiritual equilibrium when beset with strong problems. Establish a good routine of reading dhamma, pray to Buddha for strength and availed the support of the sangha and like-minded Buddhists.

Dear dhamma friends,

Upgrade of Wat Puthanimittam's Landscape

We are at the end of the “rain season”, contributions thus far will be used for the construction of the celestial dragons, the “dragon scales” fund will be use to construct the scales of the two celestial dragons.

The upgrade of “Wat Puthanimittam landscape” project evolved from a responsibility to teach man to live in a harmonious symbiosis with nature. Buddha and his disciples reveled in the silent solitary natural habitats unencumbered by human activity.

Buddha is conscious of the evil of pollution in its various form and this project is Wat Puthanimittam social and spiritual responsibility to provide a beautiful, natural environment that will provide great joy and aesthetic satisfaction to the local community. In Buddhism, some of the main events in the life of Buddha took place in the open air... He was born by a tree and he attained enlightenment by the foot of a Bodhi tree. Large trees are esteemed in Buddhism and some are recognized as the Bodhi trees of former Buddhas.

So please join us in this spiritual quest.... to preserve the beauty of nature and tap this source of strength and help teach mankind to treat nature in a caring and protective way. Please find time to donate. Thank you.

DRAGON'S SCALES – RM5.00 EACH

Four years ago, the Abbot of Wat Puthanimittam, the venerable Ajahn Phra Sunti Kamapirato had a dream...a dream of a celestial dragon (naga) in the vicinity of the wat. Nagas are serpent figures who play a role in Buddhist mythology. They are beings of great power to protect the underworld and bestow fertility and wealth in the area they are individually associated. If properly worship, prosperity can be the result. When Buddha achieved enlightenment, He is said to have been protected by the cobra hood of the Nagaraja Mucilinda, symbolizing the fact that the Nagas are placing their natural powers in the service of Buddha.
The funds raised for the year 2010 Kathina Festival will be used to translate this dream to reality. Kathina, literally translated is the one month period after the annual three months rain season (vassa) residence of monks that Buddhist lay people offer robes to them. Wat Puthanimittam is sourcing funds to construct the dragon scales.
