HOW TO WALK IN THE STEP OF YOUR SPIRITUAL MASTER......

Nowadays, people feel uncomfortable subjecting themselves to the guidance and authority of another person
who consciously they hold to be equal or better educated than himself/herself.Young people are demanding
more freedom and responsibility, refusing to listen and insisting they know better than their parents/teachers.
Living in today degenrate times, opportunities to meet and be guided by authentic spiritual master are more
exceptional and precious. All of us will have different experiences according to our previous karma and activities.

A spiritual master who has obtained high levels of realization can through his power of compassion lead us from
egostic, deluded grasping of a non existence self. He will protect his disciples from adopting wrong conduct and
encourage pure morality and guide them back to the path.By following him, we become more composed and calmer
with improved concentration.Sometimes our own ignorance and obscurations prevent the fundamental acknowledgement
of the master qualities. They will not benefit from his teachings and blessings. These obscurations may become such a
hindrance that we fail to recognise the qualities in the master. The master is the one we should rest our trust until
enlightenment.A master with the perfect knowledge and who has extensive wisdom and who is liberated from samsara
can fulfil our wishes and guide us through his compassion. In essence, the master we meet is the result of our views and
consequences of our past karma.

Whatever we do for our master, we should do out of pure respect and not out of pretension, disinterest or grudgingly.
We should develop the wisdom to recognise the wisdom of his many activities as well as the concentration to hold the
knowledge dispensed in his teachings.

Mindful of all precepts, vows and instructions bestowed by the master, we should take great care and respect in following them.
There are no greater sources of refuge or opportunities to accumulate merit than by following our master and benefit from
the outpouring of his blessings, wisdom and realization. We therefore have to fundamentally alter our external and inner behaviour to benefit from his presence, Teachings and blessings. The master understands that there are many classes of mental disposition and
different stages of realizations and uses his compassion and skilful practice to constantly liberate others.

"......an offering made to the Sangha is incalculable, immeasurable. And I say that in no way does a gift to a person individually ever have
greater fruit than an offering made to the Sangha."

The Buddha, Majjhima Nikaya 142

Dear dhamma friends,
As we leave 2010 and proceed to 2011, in welcoming another chinese Lunar year, let us develope our sprituality; the cultivation of our spiritual health will strengthen our resolve and mindfulness and enable us to live our lives well.
On Giving
There are those who give little of much they have - and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome.
And there are those who have little and give it all. These are the believers in life and the bonty of life, and their coffer is never empty.
There are those who give with joy, and the joy is their reward.
And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.
And there are those who give and know not pain in giving, nor do they seek joy, nor give with mindfulness of virtue.
" it is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding."
- Khalil Gibran

The Buddha potential is in us all....

The year 2011, the year of the metal rabbit will see the construction and completion of the celestial dragons. It will also herald the arrival of the Holiness, the statue of first Buddha, a gift from devotees in Thailand and also mark the appearance of a pair of celestial phoenix from China, a gift from a devotee.

The sangha community would like to see healing of the minds by exploring Buddhism as a science of mind and by understanding how the mind works which will help reduce mental suffering and create family well being. In a world seeing an increase in violence and dependence on drugs to get through daily life, learn how to manage fear and anger, join the reverand sangha in their daily prayer and meditation 10 A.M. - 11 A.M., 3 P.M. - 4 P.M. and 8 P.M.-9.30 P.M. In 2011, engage in acts of loving service to other beings and cultivation of loving-kindness (metta), act compassionately within our families and in the world around us.

If you are feeling blessed, repay the blessings bestowed unto you by forwarding this blogspot and its contents to all dhamma friends, devotees and relatives. The link between Buddha and men/women is faith, that is all that keeps things moving and alive.

May the merits generated by all the acts of charity at Wat Puthanimittam be shared equally amongst you all!

Good manners aren't like a suit you wear to impress others but take off when you get home.
Fasting helps you contemplate spirituality and remind you that material things aren't the most important thing in your life.
Each human being is totally unique from the very beginning of his/her life at fertilization.
When Children Leave Home:
  • maintain a regular spiritual routine
  • make good choices and decisions
  • effectively communicate with others
  • care for personal health
  • manage personal finance
  • clean and maintain a house/apartment
  • be self motivated

Faith is the assured expectation of things hope for. Strong faith build on solid evidence. Without faith, no one please Buddha. Anyone who comes to Buddha must believe He is real and His dhamma reward those who wish to learn about it. The wisdom of the dhamma can make us wiser.

Do not be anxious over anything, let your prayers be known to Budhha, and the light and teachings of Buddha will guide you. Don't be spiritually bankrupt that you find it difficult to turn to Buddha, the dhamma and the sangha for help. The dhamma will keep our emotional, mental and spiritual equilibrium when beset with strong problems. Establish a good routine of reading dhamma, pray to Buddha for strength and availed the support of the sangha and like-minded Buddhists.
