WAT PUTHANIMITTAM
TAMAN KEMUNCAK IPOH, PERAK

DRAGON'S SCALES – RM5.00 EACH

Four years ago, the Abbot of Wat Puthanimittam, the venerable Ajahn Phra Sunti Kamapirato had a dream...a dream of a celestial dragon (naga) in the vicinity of the wat. Nagas are serpent figures who play a role in Buddhist mythology. They are beings of great power to protect the underworld and bestow fertility and wealth in the area they are individually associated. If properly worship, prosperity can be the result. When Buddha achieved enlightenment, He is said to have been protected by the cobra hood of the Nagaraja Mucilinda, symbolizing the fact that the Nagas are placing their natural powers in the service of Buddha.
The funds raised for the year 2010 Kathina Festival will be used to translate this dream to reality. Kathina, literally translated is the one month period after the annual three months rain season (vassa) residence of monks that Buddhist lay people offer robes to them. Wat Puthanimittam is sourcing funds to construct the dragon scales.
